Taxes are yours to file
Track your sales (we make this easy in the dashboard) and report income on your tax return — Schedule C in the US for most sole proprietors. We don't issue 1099 forms for cash or P2P sales because that money never flows through us. If you accept card payments via Stripe, Stripe issues the 1099-K to you directly when you cross IRS thresholds.
Sales tax for card orders is handled
When customers pay by card through ChalPronto, we use Stripe Tax to compute and collect sales tax automatically. For cash orders, you're responsible for any sales-tax collection your state requires — we treat cash like a walk-in sale.
Local laws apply to your craft
Cottage food laws, business licenses, food-safety regs, professional licenses — these vary by state and city. ChalPronto doesn't add new requirements, but we don't exempt you from yours. Check your state's Department of Agriculture (food) or licensing board.
What you can't sell here
No alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, firearms, pharmaceuticals, age-restricted goods, counterfeit items, or anything illegal in your jurisdiction. The full list is in our Terms of Service. Violations result in immediate account termination.

Do I need a business license to use ChalPronto?
ChalPronto itself doesn't require one — you can sign up with just a name and a phone number. But your state, county, and product category may require licenses or permits independent of us. Some examples: cottage food laws (state-specific rules for selling food made at home), state resale licenses (for reselling wholesale produce or goods), FDA registration (for some food and supplement categories), and professional licenses (for cosmetology, etc.). These are between you and the regulator. Check with your state's Department of Agriculture, Department of Revenue, or local Small Business Development Center for what applies to your specific situation.
Do I need to onboard Stripe? SSN?
No. If you take cash, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, or UPI, you never need Stripe. Sign up with just your name and phone. Add Stripe later only if you want to accept card payments.
How much does it cost?
Free for cash and P2P sales, forever. Pro plan ($19/mo) unlocks custom domain, multi-menu, analytics, and unlimited broadcasts. Card payments via Stripe Connect: 1% per transaction. That's it.
Can I sell different things — food AND clothes AND services?
Yes. You can run multiple menus from one account — one for mangoes, one for sarees, one for weekend catering. Each has its own link.
My customers speak Tamil / Hindi / Telugu / Marathi / Bengali / Gujarati. Will they get a confusing English page?
No. Your storefront auto-translates to your customer's language — we support 15 languages. WhatsApp messages, order confirmations, payment instructions all go out in their language.
What if I run out of stock mid-day?
Set an inventory count on each item. The storefront shows "Only 3 left" badges and locks at "Sold out" automatically. Never oversell again.
How do I get paid before pickup?
Add your Venmo / Cash App / Zelle / UPI handles. Customers see one-tap payment buttons with the exact order amount pre-filled. They pay before walking over. You confirm and hand the goods.
